Curtis Wray

Associate Solicitor

What My Clients Have Said

My recent divorce was handled by Curtis Wray. He was excellent throughout and very professional and supportive. He provided me with sound advice during a very stressful and difficult period. Curtis constantly kept me updated. I never had to chase him on any issues. I would thoroughly recommend Curtis personally and Girlings Solicitors. Mr P Collins

Curtis is a Family Law specialist based in our Herne Bay office. He is a keen and passionate advocate and obtained Higher Rights of Audience in 2018 giving him the right, unlike most solicitors, to appear like barristers do in the higher courts.

Curtis joined Girlings in April 2020 as an Associate Solicitor. He supports his clients through the stress of dealing with family matters by giving clear advice focusing specifically on his clients’ aims and objectives.

Wherever possible he tenaciously represents his clients in court in financial, children and domestic abuse proceedings and obtained Higher Rights of Audience in 2018, upon his qualification as a solicitor, allowing him to act as an advocate in the higher courts in England and Wales.

My Specialisms

Curtis’ specialisms include:

  • Divorce proceedings and separation
  • Civil Partnership breakdown
  • Children law - including child arrangements and applications for leave to remove from the jurisdiction
  • Advice and agreements for cohabiting couples and resolution of issues between former cohabitees
  • Domestic violence
  • Divorce settlements- financial provision, including pensions on divorce
  • Pre-Nuptial Agreements
  • Schedule 1 Children Act applications - financial provision for children where parents are not married.

Curtis obtained Higher Rights of Audience in 2018 and can act as an advocate in the higher courts in England and Wales.

Curtis began his legal career in 2013 at a firm in Leeds working as a Commercial Litigation Paralegal which provided him with considerable experience of the Civil Procedure Rules which govern civil proceedings. The Civil Procedure Rules must be adhered to in some Family Law matters, most commonly, where couples are not married. He is therefore expertly placed to assist both unmarried and married couples alike, should they separate.  This sets him apart from other family solicitors who may only be familiar with divorce law and the governing Family Procedure Rules or indeed, a litigation solicitor who may be unfamiliar with divorce law or the Family Procedure Rules.

He is a member of Resolution. Members are committed to Resolution's Code of Practice which promotes a constructive approach to the resolution of family disputes that considers the needs of the whole family.

Curtis graduated from Leeds Beckett University where he studied Law and Criminology. Whilst undertaking his studies, Curtis volunteered with Leeds Citizens Advice and gained a wealth of experience in analysing a whole range of legal issues and making sure appropriate advice was provided. Following completion of his degree and having gained experience in the legal sector, he undertook the Legal Practice Course at Leeds Beckett University and won an award for being the highest achiever in the Family Law module – an area of law to which he remains resolutely committed.
