Restructuring & Insolvency

Corporate, Banking & Finance

Meet Chris Brightling

Girlings' Restructuring & Insolvency team has considerable experience in advising Insolvency Practitioners, companies in financial difficulties, directors, investors and funders on all aspects of corporate restructuring and insolvency.

We recognise and understand the pressures and challenges faced by businesses in financial difficulties and the importance of providing pragmatic and commercial advice, often within tight timeframes.

As well as formal insolvencies, we advise a broad range of clients on turnaround strategies and restructurings for businesses that are experiencing financial difficulties.

Demergers

Groups of companies can look to restructure or demerge part of their business for a variety of reasons, including as a result of a shareholder dispute, to diversify its operations or prior to a sale of part of the group. Our team are experienced in advising on the legal aspects of such demergers, working with your accountants and tax advisers to comply with any tax or technical requirements.

Insolvency, liquidation & administration

Insolvency scenarios can bring with them significant pressure and stress. When it comes to formal insolvencies our team provide clear thinking and practical advice to find solutions for businesses and their owners, whether your business is in financial difficulty, you are looking to recover money from an insolvent business, you are entering a formal insolvency process, acquiring businesses and assets from administrators or otherwise.

If you require assistance recovering money from debtors, early advice is key. Contact a member of the Debt Recovery team today.

Director disqualification

An insolvency practitioner will often investigate the conduct of a company’s directors following a formal insolvency procedure which can lead to an individual being disqualified from acting as a director. Our team is able to advise directors in relation to disqualification claims. The implications of being disqualified as a director can be significant, both personally and professionally and advice should be sought at an early stage.

For further advice, please contact a member of our Corporate, Banking & Finance team. Girlings has offices in Canterbury, Ashford and Herne Bay.
