Family Mediation Week 2024
News

Girlings Solicitors is supporting Family Mediation Week, which runs from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th January 2024.

The aim of the week is to raise awareness of mediation for families who are separating. As the organisers, the Family Mediation Council hope to “encourage separating couples to think about family mediation as a way of helping them take control, make decisions together and build a positive future for their family.”

Over the five days, the Council will be publishing resources and information, holding events, and working with the media to explain the benefits of mediation.

If you would like to get involved, please click here to download an interactive timetable for the planned events.

Resources for mediators and other professionals working with separating families are available here.

And here is a link to a one-page printable leaflet that explains what mediation is and outlines the benefits.

Further information is also available here from the Family Mediation Council website.

The Council is made up of five family mediation organisations: College of Mediators; Family Mediators Association; The Law Society; National Family Mediation; and Resolution.

All of Girlings Solicitors’ Family Law Team are Members of Resolution, and our Head of Department Gemma Purt has recently completed the process of having her prestigious Law Society Accreditation renewed.

We very much recognise and support the work of the Council, and hope that you will use and share the resources linked above to help spread awareness of the benefits of mediation.

For advice on mediation or any of the issues raised above, please do contact the Girlings Solicitors’ Family Law Team.
