Gemma joined Girlings in November 2016 and heads the Family Law team. She is committed to providing advice in clear, effective language and to achieving a fair settlement for her clients. Gemma is a Legal 500 Recommended Lawyer.
Head of Family Law, Gemma is a member of Resolution, an organisation of family law professionals committed to helping their clients reach a fair solution quickly and cost-effectively. She has also achieved Law Society family panel membership. With mental health issues high on the agenda in many Family Law cases, she has over 10 years’ previous experience of representing patients in proceedings under the Mental Health Act 1983 (MHA) as a Law Society Mental Health panel member.
Gemma has built up a wealth of experience in all aspects of Family Law and understands the difficulties faced by clients when a relationship breaks down. She is an experienced solicitor who is known for her excellent client relations.
Gemma completed her law degree on a part-time basis whilst working in a local law firm where she subsequently completed her training contract. She graduated from the University of Kent at Canterbury and qualified as a Solicitor in 2007. She remained working at the same local firm until October 2016.
Gemma has successfully led her department into the prestigious Legal 500 rankings for each of the past three years, as well as attaining ‘Recommended Lawyer’ status based upon her individual performance over the same period.
In the latest rankings, the Legal 500 praised Gemma as “exceptional”, with the whole team being recognised as “approachable, available and willing to go above and beyond”.
