Expert Family Law Solicitors

Girlings’ Family Law team are well respected divorce and family law experts with offices in Ashford, Canterbury and Herne Bay. With a reputation for a friendly, professional approach, and being tough when we need to be, our focus is always on finding a solution and settlement that works best for you and any family involved.

As you would expect, we specialise in the full range of family legal matters.  We help our clients with relationship breakdown, separation agreements and divorce. We are experienced in negotiating financial settlements, including those for complex and high value cases.

Our solicitors are experts in unmarried couples’ rights and cohabitation agreements, advising couples who are living together of their best options.   We also advise on legal issues related to same sex relationships and civil partnership dissolution.

Our focus is always on helping to reduce the negative impact of a relationship breakdown on children and in any parental dispute we help our clients agree arrangements that work in the best interest of any children involved.

We advise clients who are victims of domestic violence and abuse in a non-judgmental way.

Increasingly we are asked by clients to advise on prenuptial agreements for couples contemplating marriage or civil partnerships and on post nuptial arrangements entered into after marriage or civil partnerships.

Fixed fee initial interview

As a team, we cannot emphasise enough the value of receiving early professional advice when considering divorce or separation. To encourage our clients to seek early advice, we always offer a confidential one hour fixed fee initial interview with an experienced family law solicitor at a discounted rate of at least 40%.  This fee also includes follow up written advice after the meeting.

Our experience has shown that clients often need much longer than a standard 30 minutes free advice session. We wish to make sure that our clients receive the full initial advice necessary for them to consider their options going forward.  The fixed fee interview enables you to get to know your family lawyer.

Our range of services is similar to many other Family Law specialists, so what makes us different?

Refreshingly human, sympathetic, prudent, diligent, friendly, approachable and pragmatic –  are just some of the words our clients have used to describe our approach and the service and support we have given them.  Read more about what our clients say.

Settlement out of court solicitors

We focus on negotiation and agreement to resolve family disputes quickly and sympathetically, particularly where children are involved. Whenever possible, we attempt to reach a satisfactory resolution without having to go to court, this may involve working with a family mediation service or with our collaborative family lawyer. If court is the only way forward, then our dedicated team of family lawyers have the experience to support and advise you throughout.

Our Family Law team are all members of Resolution, an organisation of family law professionals committed to helping their clients reach a fair solution, quickly and cost effectively.
