Megan Mahesan is a Legal 500 Recommended Lawyer who is recognised in the 2024 rankings as being a "key lawyer" in our "friendly, approachable and hardworking" Family Law Team.
Megan joined Girlings in November 2018, firstly working as a Paralegal in our Commercial Property team and then commencing her Training Contract in September 2019. Megan spent her Training Contract working in the; Family, Corporate and Commercial, Wills, Tax & Estates and Employment teams.
Megan has worked in a law firm since the age of 16 and during this time she gained extensive and varied experience within the legal field, with a focus on Family Law work. She also worked at a large London law firm which specialised in Family Law while studying for her LPC following her degree in Law. Her work at this Firm developed her knowledge of financial separation and child care arrangements and confirmed a passion for helping clients to achieve their objectives.
During her Training Contract she particularly impressed in the area of Family Law with her attention to detail, knowledge and ability, building on this previous experience.
Her interests lie in supporting and advising families during particularly difficult and challenging points in their lives, specialising in Family Law and Contentious Probate matters. She has been praised by clients for her empathetic approach and is quick to gain clients’ trust and confidence.
Megan moved to Canterbury in 2014 to study Law at the University of Kent, graduating in 2017 with a 1st class degree. During her time at University Megan regularly volunteered at the Kent Law Clinic, working on a variety of matters. Megan then went on to study the Legal Practice Course (LPC) part-time at BPP University,
Megan is a member of Resolution. Members are committed to Resolution's Code of Practice which promotes a constructive approach to the resolution of family disputes that considers the needs of the whole family.
