He deals with claims at all levels up to and beyond £1 million. His work reflects the broad and diverse range of issues which regularly affect both business and individual clients. This includes regularly advising local businesses of varying sizes on a range of concerns extending from credit control and debt recovery to commercial contract issues and claims. His focus is on trying to maximise recovery and resolution in the quickest and most cost effective way always having regard to the client’s objectives.
His long association with Ashford means that David has many established client contacts and is both familiar and works closely with the local business community.
David also advises individual clients in a variety of dispute areas ranging from property ownership disputes and boundary disputes, statutory leasehold extension and right to buy procedures, through to negligent professional advice and services.
Once again the focus is on identifying what needs to be done to resolve the particular issue, advising on the best options available to the client, recommending and if necessary implementing that advice to secure an appropriate and ultimately cost effective outcome.
David is also a keen supporter and promoter of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms which can offer a speedy and efficient way to resolve often seemingly intractable problems.
David qualified as a solicitor in 1986 having obtained a law degree from the University of Warwick. He completed his training in a large commercial Kent based firm before moving to Ashford to specialise in litigation and dispute resolution.
The Ashford practice in which David was previously a partner merged with Girlings in 2004 and David was invited to become a partner at Girlings. David has been the head of our dispute team since 2006.
