Girlings was delighted to support Age UK Herne Bay as part of the charity’s Dementia Awareness Week (17th – 23rd May ) initiative. Dementia Awareness Week offers us all an opportunity to gain a better understanding of those living with Dementia and appreciate what their Family Carers are faced with on a daily basis.
The Age UK Marigolds Team collected items to make goodie bags, including hot chocolate cones, crocheted forget-me-nots and mugs donated from Girlings Solicitors, delivered to those who they support through a range of services.
Girlings Solicitors are also proud to be working in partnership with Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable and Charlotte Nock, a specialist in Wills, LPAs and Probate attends monthly Dementia Drop-in Clinics in Herne Bay and Whitstable to give pro-bono legal advice to those in need. You can find out more about Charlotte and Age UK Herne Bay & Whitstable here.
Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative which aims to change people’s perceptions of dementia. Girlings is proud to have joined the ‘Dementia Friendly’ campaign, and is a recognised as an organisation working to become dementia friendly. Ovid Busette, Private Client solicitor, Dementia Friend and recently appointed chair of the Dementia Action Alliance tells us more about being a Dementia Friend here.
A note from Age UK: Everyone deals with the challenges of Dementia in their own way, but here are some ideas that have helped others.
