Working with Age UK Herne Bay & Whitstable

Girlings Solicitors are proud to be working in partnership with Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable, and supporting their services. Charlotte Nock , a partner in the Private Client team in our Herne Bay office and Linda Cowdry, Age UK, Herne Bay explain the benefits of this partnership for both parties.

How do you help Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable?

CHARLOTTE: ‘I attend monthly Dementia Drop-in Clinics in Herne Bay and Whitstable to give Pro-bono legal advice to those in need. The Dementia Drop in Clinics allow those living with dementia, their carers or families to access information, advice and support at no charge and with no referral.

We can assess if they actually need any assistance and people often use me as a sounding board.’

LINDA: Within the clinics people can gain free legal advice from Charlotte in a safe environment without having to pay or commit to any costly/ chargeable work.

What are the benefits of partnering with Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable?

CHARLOTTE: ‘Those people we meet in the clinics like our approach and often then want to see us for any follow up work needed, we’ve also gained the trust of the charity as an organisation who treat people fairly.

Personally, me donating my time which has a value to the charity and its beneficiaries, feels good. Girlings has a strong Corporate Social Responsibility ethos and our involvement with Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable demonstrates this. As they are a local charity we see and feel the benefit for those who are being supported.

Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable use our logo on promotional flyers for the service and I’m also able to network with other agencies which can only help our business.’

LINDA: As well as the benefits to those receiving advice from Charlotte, there are also benefits to their business.

What would you say to other businesses who may be considering working with Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable?

CHARLOTTE: Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable staff are all very down to earth and it’s clear they have a caring interest in their clients; staff are always willing to help and grateful for our support, as we are grateful to work with them.’

LINDA: If your business would like to support our work with older people in Herne Bay and Whitstable there are many ways you could do this.
