There can hardly be a business in the UK that has not been affected by the COVID-19 crisis and it is heartening to see measures being introduced to help our high streets to reopen safely.
The overwhelming majority of office based businesses now have their staff either substantially or entirely working from home which has brought about many challenges both for individuals and employers in terms of providing appropriate equipment to enable everyone to perform their jobs.
Girlings has been determined throughout the lock-down period to ensure that our service to our clients is disrupted as little as possible and that apart from face to face visits (we have all become experts at Zoom and the like!), to offer an uninterrupted service of the highest quality.
As with so many others, we have to work with outside agencies and not only have the Courts and Tribunals been badly affected by what has happened but so has the Probate Registry, HMRC and others with which we deal on a regular basis.
The new buzz word seems to be “agile” and styles of work which we previously would have considered impossible or totally impracticable have been adopted almost without any delay at all. Working from home plainly has advantages but also drawbacks not least of which is the camaraderie of working with one’s colleagues.
We, together with others, would like to think that we have learnt a lot from what has happened and that when the crisis has passed, as it surely will eventually, that we will not simply go back to working as we were before.
We look forward to returning to a new and more agile normality.
