Rachel graduated from the University of Kent with a 2.1 degree in law before completing the Legal Practice Course with commendation at the College of Law in 2014.
Having spent several years as a Legal Secretary alongside her studies before joining Girlings in 2013, Rachel was fortunate to gain valuable experience prior to commencing her training contract. During her training contract, Rachel particularly enjoyed the time spent in the Private Client and Property departments and qualified as a Solicitor in the Property department in September 2016.
Having practised as a property solicitor for 4 years, in 2020 Rachel decided to pursue her interest in Private Client work and joined the Wills, Tax & Estates team in Herne Bay. The knowledge and experience gained in her time practising property law enables Rachel to bring a multifaceted approach to certain matters including drafting declarations of trust and dealing with assents of properties to beneficiaries which enables her to assist clients where an instruction crosses both disciplines.
As someone who likes volunteering her time, Rachel particularly enjoys speaking at local schools and universities, sharing her experiences to encourage the next generation of potential lawyers to pursue a career in law. In addition to attending annual careers evenings at various local schools, Rachel was pleased to attend Simon Langton Girls School to hold mock interviews with students. Rachel also regularly delivers tailored sessions with sixth form students at Rainham Mark Grammar School and with law students at the University of Kent. As an active Alumnus of the University, Rachel regularly judges international competitions at Kent Law School including mooting, negotiation and client interviewing.
Also, a keen writer, Rachel has written articles for allaboutlaw.com and has had her views on legal education published on the Guardian online.
