Following his previous career, John re-trained in law before completing a Graduate Diploma in Law at The City Law School, University of London with a commendation in 2017 and the Legal Practice Course at BPP Holborn in 2018, also with a commendation.


John joined Girlings originally in 2018 as a paralegal after completing his law degree. Before practicing law in Kent, John served as an intelligence officer for the United States government for nine years, living and working in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. John also has a bachelors degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia in International Relations and a masters degree in Political Science from the University of Durham.

During his time at Girlings, John has worked in the Commercial Property Department and has been involved in all aspects of commercial and residential transactions. He has gained experience in purchases, sales, company refinances, remortgages and leases.

For the first seat of his training contract, John worked in our Corporate and Commercial Department in Ashford. John has now moved onto his second seat in our Employment Law Department in Ashford

Outside of the workplace, John is a trustee for Citizens Advice Thanet and enjoys beekeeping with his wife.  As a former collegiate rugby player, he enjoys staying active through hiking and running.
