A highly experienced and qualified independent financial adviser (IFA), John holds the Institute of Financial Services Diploma and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority as well as by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
John’s emphasis is on building long term client relationships rather than on one off transactions. When he joined Girlings he quickly realised that the majority of the firm’s clients prefer someone to look after their financial affairs for the longer term, rather than receiving one-off transactional advice. As a result John now provides financial planning on an ongoing basis for over 200 clients.
John’s success is founded on over forty years’ experience within the financial sector. He started his career as a cashier within the local branch of a national bank, becoming branch manager of that same bank in 1984. During his career he has also worked as a training officer specialising in interviewing techniques as well as an assistant area manager responsible for the compliance, lending and debt collection for over forty bank branches.
John has particular expertise in the following areas:
- Advising Trustees on the suitability of investments
- Advising Attorneys and Deputies on the suitability of investment opportunities
- Advising on all aspects of pensions, and in particular the crystallisation stage and the suitability of drawdown, annuities, investment based annuities, as well as the implications of the recent introduction of pension freedoms
- Financial advice on all aspects of investment.
John’s emphasis is on building long term client relationships rather than on one off transactions.
John was born in Canterbury and went to school locally, where in addition to his academic qualifications he was also very competitive at most sports, and in particular badminton and football. He still maintains that competitiveness by regularly representing his local golf club in matches, as well as competing in their internal competitions.
