Chris has a reputation for offering an exceptional personal service, making his clients feel comfortable by providing clear, pragmatic, advice that they can easily understand.

Brought up in Canterbury, Chris attended local schools and went on to graduate from Canterbury Christ Church University, with a BA Honours Degree in English Literature and History. He started his legal career in another Canterbury based firm of Solicitors where he was employed for twenty years in the Canterbury and Dover offices. During this time he was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.

To develop his career further he accepted a position at Girlings in 2003 joining the Private Client Department in the busy Herne Bay office where he is still based today. In 2010 Chris was delighted to advance his career by accepting an invitation to be the firm’s first non-Solicitor partner. Nationally he was one of the first Legal Executives to achieve this status.

My Specialisms

Chris undertakes and advises on all forms of Private Client work:

  • Simple and complex Wills,
  • The preparation of Lasting Power of Attorney
  • Applications to the Court of Protection for the appointment of a Deputy and other Court of Protection applications 
  • Applications for Probate and Letters of Administration and the administration of estates.  
  • Advice on Trusts and Inheritance Tax.

He has developed expertise in managing the financial affairs of the elderly.

Chris is often appointed as Executor and acts as a Deputy under Court of Protection Orders as well as being an Attorney under Lasting Powers of Attorney. He has developed particular expertise in managing the financial affairs of the elderly. His experience has led to invitations to speak at a number of local events on various aspects of his work.

Away from the office Chris is involved in charity work with the Salvation Army in the centre of Canterbury. He is also a keen amateur musician and plays the cornet in a brass band as well as conducts a choir.
