Alzheimer’s Society

Dementia Friends Champion, Charlotte Parsons, a paralegal in our Private Client department in Herne Bay, is the driving force behind Girlings gaining recognition from Dementia Friendly Kent as a ‘Dementia Friendly workplace’. To support this accreditation, Charlotte runs an ongoing series of information sessions for staff at our offices in Ashford, Canterbury and Herne Bay to as well as sessions in the local community to encourage people to become Dementia Friends and spread the word.

Corporate Charity: Martha Trust

Martha Trust is Girlings’ corporate charity. Martha Trust provides inclusive, lifelong care for people with profound learning difficulties.

Pilgrims Hospice
Our Private Client team take part every year in Pilgrims Hospices annual Will Writing Month in February. This is a welcome opportunity to not only raise money to support  the fantastic work Pilgrims Hospices carries out in our local community but also to raise awareness for the importance of writing a Will to ensure that loved ones are provided for.

Pro Bono Advice

Kent Law Clinic
Girlings has an ongoing relationship with Kent Law Clinic. Girlings has previously taken part in the Legal Walk, a 10km sponsored walk around Canterbury. In 2016, the team raised over £350 for the Kent Law Clinic. The Clinic provides a public service for local people who need legal advice and representation but cannot afford to pay for it, and also gives students in the Kent Law School direct experiences of legal practice.


East Kent Women’s Institute
The East Kent WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills along with campaigning on issues that matter to them and their communities. Girlings is on the WI’s speakers list and is invited regularly to deliver talks at WI’s in the surrounding area about Family Law and Wills.



Age UK
Louise Wilson, a Senior Associate Solicitor in our Private Client department, is the Chair of Faversham and Sittingbourne Age UK. The Age UK branch provides a range of community services from Personal Care to Meals on Wheels.

We are proud to be the only solicitors in Kent that is an official business partner of Kent County Cricket Club. Kent is widely believed to be the birthplace of cricket and our sponsorship contributes to the continued growth and development of this historic Club which was founded in 1842.

In April 2018, Girlings helped to save the Kent Enterprise Trust Job Club by sponsoring the club. The Job Club is run by volunteer mentors and provides one to one support to people in Herne Bay to help them overcome their individual challenges to employment through support, opportunities and training to develop their full potential.
