Welcome to Simon Stempien and Amy Husk who join who our expanding Commercial Property team. During lockdown we also gave a big 'virtual' welcome to Curtis Wray, Jonathan Masucci and Robert Sullivan:

Business Law Team

Simon Stempien, Senior Associate Solicitor - Commercial Property

Simon is a residential and commercial property expert well respected locally. He joins Girlings’ expanding Commercial Property team from another leading Kent Law Firm as a Senior Associate Solicitor. Simon will based in Girlings’ Herne Bay office to meet the growing demand for commercial property advice across the coastal business community. Recent transactions include helping a number of developers acquire land in consideration of the longer term needs of a development. Most notably he has advised on the sale of a development site for £5.2m, the sale and division of properties with a total value of £1.3m and worked with a national pharmacy chain on their property letting requirements. Simon said: ‘I am delighted to be joining the Girlings’ team which is highly regarded by those in the profession for its technical excellence and am looking forward to developing stronger links with businesses and individuals in Herne Bay, Thanet and Whitstable.’

Amy Husk, Senior Associate Solicitor - Commercial Property

Amy works in the Firm’s Ashford Office. Kent based for most of her life, Amy takes a keen interest in the agricultural sector and has acted for a number of farmers and land owners. She also acts for a wide variety of clients from large corporates to small startups and property investors. Recent transactions include dealing with the property aspects of a number of multi-million pound corporate acquisitions in the veterinary sector, leasehold portfolio work for a chain of gyms and the refinancing of a Kent based kennels. Amy said: ‘It’s an exciting time to be joining the Girlings’ Commercial Property team which has grown considerably over the last two years to meet the growing demand for its services. The team has a high reputation locally for its technical excellence and I look forward to forging relationships with a diverse range of businesses in Kent and beyond as well as building on the agricultural side of Girlings’ services.

Jonathan Masucci, Associate Solicitor - Corporate & Commercial

Jonathan joins from a Kent firm where he qualified in 2015 and worked as a corporate/commercial and commercial property associate. He is experienced in advising on corporate acquisitions and disposals as well as general corporate, commercial and charity law matters. Jonathan is based in our Ashford officeand advises on share and business acquisitions and disposals and restructurings. He also advises on general corporate law matters including corporate governance issues, shareholders’ agreements and share buy backs.

Personal Law team

Curtis Wray, Associate Solicitor - Family Law

Curtis is a Family Law specialist based in our Herne Bay office. He is a keen and passionate advocate and obtained Higher Rights of Audience in 2018 giving him the right, unlike most solicitors, to appear like barristers in the higher courts. He supports his clients through the stress of dealing with family matters by giving clear advice focusing specifically on his clients’ aims and objectives. Wherever possible he represents his clients in court in financial, children and domestic abuse proceedings. Following completion of his degree and having gained experience in the legal sector, he undertook the Legal Practice Course at Leeds Beckett University and won an award for being the highest achiever in the Family Law module.

Robert Sullivan, Paralegal - Private Client

A big welcome to Robert who will be based at our Herne Bay Office and who will be assisting partnersCharlotte Nockand Chris Neeve in the Private Client team.

Robert is a Paralegal and Trainee Chartered Legal Executive (GCILEx). He has worked in firms in London and the home counties and gained particular experience with the administration of trusts and tax issues. He is also an accredited mediator, and frequently applies mediation skills in his work where necessary.
