Chancellor Rishi Sunak's housing announcements in yesterday's Budget will be welcome news to many:
A 3 month extension on Stamp Duty holiday
The Government has extended the Stamp Duty holiday until the end of June. This means that buyers completing a purchase on a home worth up to £500k before the end of June will now not pay the tax, with a reduced Stamp Duty discount available until the end of September.
95% mortgage guarantee scheme for first time buyers
To help first time buyers onto the property ladder, the Government announced that it will be guaranteeing mortgages for buyers with a deposit of just 5%. Some of the UK’s largest lenders will be offering the mortgages from April.
