Girlings Supports Rotary Sleep Out for Porchlight
News

Saturday 19 October, St Edmund's School Canterbury

Could you go without your comfy bed for one night?

Sarah Finnis, Head of Family Law and President of the Herne Bay Rotary Club will be sleeping out to help raise awareness for Porchlight and the amazing support they give homeless and vulnerable people

The Rotary Sleep Out challenge is about putting yourself in the shoes of someone who is homeless for a night. It's a chance to raise vital funds for Porchlight and also gain a better understanding of what rough sleepers really go through.

Help Porchlight tackle homelessness in Kent

The ever increasing number of people facing homelessness in Kent is a serious concern. Last year, it was estimated that 834 people were sleeping rough... five years ago that number was just 148. This is largely down to a lack of social housing, changes to benefits, unreliable and low paid employment, and cuts to mental health support.

Porchlight helps people escape the streets. It also gives them support to rebuild their confidence, regain their health and develop the skills needed to leave homelessness behind for good.
