Girlings Solicitors Support OPAL Project at Willesborough Junior and Infant Schools
News

Volunteers from Girlings Solicitors got digging to support the OPAL Project at Willesborough Junior and Infant Schools in Ashford last week.

The focus of the project is the creation of a sandpit and mud kitchen where pupils can enjoy more creative, engaging, and rewarding play. The facilities also have wider value to the community, as they are used out of school hours by holiday clubs, Brownies, and church groups.

The broader OPAL Programme is a nationwide initiative which provides support and resources to improve playtime environments and culture for children. The scheme has benefitted over a thousand schools across the UK and has received global recognition after being adopted by education authorities around the world.

To help advance the project at Willesborough Junior and Infant Schools, Girlings donated wheelbarrows, forks, and spades; as well as supplying willing volunteers to help on site over two days.

The Girlings helpers included Finance Director Jason Bigg, Trainee Solicitor Mathew Blatchford-Horn, and Senior Associate Solicitor Sarah Geering.

Jason said: “The OPAL Project represents a great opportunity for Girlings to support a local initiative that helps both the school and the community. We were only too happy to get involved and help. Although it was hard work, it is really rewarding to know that our efforts will make a positive difference to the children of the school and wider community”.
