Girlings Celebrates Success of Newly Qualified Solicitor
News

Congratulations to Girlings’ newly qualified solicitor, John Quinlan who has successfully completed his two year training contract with the Firm and who qualifies into our Dispute Resolution department.

John joined Girlings originally in 2018 as a paralegal after completing his law degree. Before practicing law in Kent, John served as an intelligence officer for the United States government for nine years, living and working in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

John then re-trained in law before completing a Graduate Diploma in Law at The City Law School, University of London with a commendation in 2017 and the Legal Practice Course at BPP Holborn in 2018, also with a commendation. He also holds a bachelors degree from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia in International Relations and a masters degree in Political Science from the University of Durham.

Following his time as a paralegal in Commercial Property, John was successful in securing a 2-year training contract at Girlings and had seats in Corporate & Commercial, Employment Law and Dispute Resolution.

John is already proving to be a great asset to the team and to the firm as a whole.

John said, ‘I am pleased to be continuing my legal career with Girlings in the Dispute Resolution team. I thoroughly enjoyed my training contract with the Firm and am grateful for the experience. During my seats in Corporate, Employment and Dispute Resolution, I was consistently given interesting and challenging cases. Chris Brightling, Carl Vincent, Andrew Watson and David Mallinson were excellent trainee supervisors and they helped me develop essential skills for my future practice.’

David Mallinson, Head of Dispute Resolution said, ‘It is good to have some positive news to celebrate during these challenging times. We are delighted to welcome John to the team and he is already proving to be a great asset to the team and to the firm as a whole. His qualification is well deserved and I am confident that he will have a long and successful legal career.'
